Club member, arbitrator and mediator. Carlos acted as arbitrator in over 70 international and domestic arbitrations, some as chair or sole arbitrator, during a 15 year period. They included AAA, ICC, and ad hoc under the UNCITRAL Rules arbitrations. Carlos practiced law in the US, Latin America and Europe and was a national of Chile. His practice started in 1975 as an English Barrister. He spoke English, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese. He was the author of several articles including Force Majeure and Tariffs: International Contracts Under Stress - Dispute Resolution Journal - Vol. 73, No. 3 and A Look at Some Recurring Issues in Investment Arbitration - Dispute Resolution Journal - Vol. 67, No. 2. Carlos left us suddenly on February 24, 2019.
